DAFs have been the technology of choice in a wide range of industries over the past 20 years as a primary waste water remediation and product recovery solution. In simple terms, the organic contaminants in an effluent stream are coagulated and flocculated using chemical additives in order to produce solids and liquids. Microscopic air bubbles are introduced after flocculation causing the contaminants to float. The floating layer is skimmed off and recovered or disposed. Industries that make use of DAF include dairy processing, vegetable oil, food processing, printing, recycling, packaging and canning, fish farming, activated sewerage sludge clarification, sewerage sludge thickening, drinking water clarification and some others.
